Stables
on the Park is situated inside Queen Elizabeth Park at MacKays
Crossing, just north of Paekakariki. It takes just 45 minutes to drive
from Wellington on State Highway One, or a short taxi ride from Paraparaumu
railway station (which is at the end of the commuter line).
The stables commenced operation in 1986 by owner, Mandy Robinson. We currently
have a stable of twenty horses and ponies from miniatures to Clydesdales.
Stables on the Park prides itself on offering riding experiences that
foster confidence in new riders who often return for a longer or more
challenging trek. Sometimes our customers prefer to enjoy a private lesson
at our Te Horo Equestrian Centre to improve their riding technique.
We cater for small children who wish to feed, pat and pluck up courage
to enjoy their first sit on a pony. Slightly older children sometimes
prefer to be lead on foot until they gain confidence to ride alone, with
their friends or family, escorted by one of our experienced guides. Teenagers
and adults ride according to their ability and can choose treks of a half
hour to one-and-a-half hour duration. Of course most customers like to
ride to the beach and walk their horse in the sea.
Our terms of payment are cash or cheque and for a large, in advance booking,
a 50% deposit is required.
We operate seven days a week and prefer bookings for weekend rides but
do require advance notice for mid-week treks.
Stables on the Park provides helmets, and can also offer boots and jackets
if required.
